OTHER QUESTIONS

On your phone

Can I dress from my phone?

Yes. Tap PHONE at the top of your HANGER HUD: a QR code shows. Point your phone camera at it and tap the link — your wardrobe opens on your phone, with no app and no password. WEAR, + ADD, LOOKS, WEARING and the ✨ AI stylist all work there, while you stay in Second Life with your viewer.

Can I open my wardrobe on a computer, on a big screen?

Yes. Tap PHONE on the HUD, then on the computer go to wear.slecastle.com/web and type the 6-digit code shown under the QR code (COPY copies it; COPY THE LINK copies a link with the code in it).

Is dressing from my phone safe?

Yes. A code works once and only for 2 minutes, and it comes only from your own HUD. The phone works only while your HUD is attached: take the HUD off and the page locks within seconds, with nothing of your wardrobe on it; wear the HUD again and it opens by itself. Profile picture ▸ HANGER ON YOUR PHONE ▸ SIGN OUT EVERY BROWSER signs out every phone and computer at once.

My phone says “Your HUD is not attached”.

The phone works only while you wear the HANGER HUD in Second Life (with your RLV viewer). Wear it and the page opens again by itself. The code ran out? Tap PHONE on the HUD for a new one.

Using the wardrobe

My HUD got small — how do I make it big again?

There are two ways a HUD can look small. Which one is yours?

A) You only see one small round HANGER button. The HUD is made small. Tap the button and the big screen comes back.

B) The whole HUD is tiny on your screen. Its size was turned down. At the top right of the HUD there are three round buttons. Tap the first one (the size button), then tap 100% · original:

1 SIZE — pick 100%2 make it small (one button)3 take the HUD off

The same setting is in your profile picture ▸ HUD size. The smallest size is 85%, so the buttons always stay easy to tap.

No round buttons at the top right? Your HUD is older than 2.22 — its buttons are on the HUD's frame. Wear the newest HUD (it is sent to you by itself), and the buttons move onto the screen.

What is the difference between WEAR and + ADD?

WEAR changes you into the product: what it replaces comes off, then it goes on — a dress replaces your top and skirt, new shoes your shoes, while earrings keep your dress on. (The SMART WEAR switch in the collection turns it off: then every other wardrobe piece comes off.) + ADD puts it on over what you already wear — for shoes, jewellery or a jacket on top. On a product you wear, the button becomes REMOVE.

What is SMART WEAR?

SMART WEAR (the switch next to TAGS, on by default) makes WEAR take off only what the new piece replaces. HANGER knows what each piece is from its name: a top swaps your top, a skirt or trousers your bottom, a dress both; new shoes swap your shoes, earrings your earrings, hair your hair. An outfit that brings its own heels or earrings replaces yours too. A whole outfit (a dress, an outfit, a set) takes off the whole set you wear — its jewellery, bag and shoes with it. Everything else stays on — your body, head, the jewellery and hair you put on as their own products, and HUDs.

With HUD 2.21, only the replaced pieces come off, even from a set you wear (a new top leaves the set's skirt on). Turn the switch off and WEAR takes off every other wardrobe piece, the classic way. + ADD never takes anything off. Something came off that should not? Tap ↩ UNDO.

Can I change many products at once?

Yes. Tap SELECT (top right of the collection), tap the products, then use the bar at the bottom: MOVE TO… a category, TAG, ★ favourite — and under ⋯ MORE: set a brand, mark as seen, or hide them from HANGER. Tap CANCEL when you are done.

Where are the settings?

Tap your profile picture (top right): click sounds, night mode, covers from the Marketplace, what's new in each HUD version, and deleting your wardrobe data. The sun / moon button switches day and night mode, and the SMART WEAR switch sits in the collection.

How do I save an outfit as a look and wear it again?

Put the pieces on, open LOOKS and tap SAVE CURRENT LOOK. Give it a name. From then on WEAR on its card takes off the other wardrobe pieces you have on and puts the whole look on in one go; TAKE OFF removes it. Tap ⋯ (or the picture) to open the look: its pieces, ADD PHOTO, RENAME, UPDATE TO WHAT I WEAR and DELETE. The best photo is a tall, full-body snapshot (1:2) — in Second Life, File ▸ Take Snapshot, save to disk at a custom size of 512 × 1024. With many looks, a search box finds them by name, piece or brand.

Can I add a look on top of what I am wearing?

Yes. On a look’s card, + ADD puts the look on over what you have on — handy for a jewellery set, a jacket or accessories — and nothing else comes off. WEAR still swaps your whole outfit for the look.

How does HANGER know what goes with a product?

From you. Every time you wear things together, and every look you save, HANGER remembers which pieces you put together. Open a product with ✎ or go to WEARING and SUGGESTIONS shows the ones you pair most — tap one to add it on top. It never suggests two of the same kind (two pairs of shoes), and it gets better the more you use it.

Can I share a look with friends?

Yes. Open the look (tap ⋯ or its picture) and tap SHARE LINK. You get a link to a page anyone can open — in a browser, on Discord or in Second Life: the look's photo and every piece with its brand and a link to it on the Marketplace. COPY copies the link, OPEN opens the page in Second Life. The window shows how many times it was opened. STOP SHARING ends the link for good.

What is the bell at the top?

News from the HANGER team — a new version, a tip, an event. A dot shows on the bell while there is something you have not read; tap it to read.

How do I make categories and sort my products into them?

Tap + NEW next to the category chips and name it (for example Dresses). To move one product, tap its ✎ and choose the category. To move several, tap SELECT, tap the products, then MOVE TO…. Categories are yours only — the wardrobe never makes them for you. Open a category to rename or delete it.

What are tags, and how are they different from categories?

A product sits in one category, but it can have many tags — for example #night, #black and #gothic. To tag one product, tap its ✎: under TAGS its own tags come first (tap one to take it off), then a box — type to find a tag, or press Enter to add a new one. The most used tags show below it; ALL TAGS opens the rest. To tag several, tap SELECT, tap the products, then TAG. Tap TAGS above the category chips to filter: pick two tags and you see only what has both. Typing #night in the search box finds tags too. Pick one tag in the filter to rename or delete it everywhere.

Can I have sub-categories, like Tops ▸ Bras?

Yes — with your folders. Sort outfits into folders inside HANGER (for example #RLV ▸ HANGER ▸ Tops ▸ Bras), then tap FOLDERS next to BRANDS and pick Tops for every top or Bras for just the bras. Nothing to set up; it follows your folders when you change them. A folder named for a kind of clothing (Tops, Dresses, Shoes…) is not taken as a brand.

Can I see which pieces of an outfit I have on?

Yes (HUD 2.20 or newer). Open WEARING: under each outfit, tap 5 PIECES (or however many) to see every object you wear from it — top, skirt, heels — by its real name. Pieces you attach or take off by hand show up there too. Tap a piece to open its product on the Marketplace. With HUD 2.21, × next to a piece takes off just that piece. ALSO ON YOU lists what is not from your wardrobe (body, head, hair…); tap one to find it on the Marketplace, or × to take it off.

Can I open a product on the Marketplace?

Yes. When HANGER knows a product's listing, its cover has a small store button at the bottom left: tap it and the listing opens in Second Life's web window. Pieces under WEARING open their listing too.

A product comes in several body fits (Legacy, LaraX…). What do I do?

Keep only the fit you wear in its folder — HANGER puts on everything inside a folder. If you like to keep them all, put each fit in its own sub-folder (Silk Gown ▸ Legacy, Silk Gown ▸ LaraX): HANGER shows one card and WEAR puts on the fit for the body you wear. The LEGACY ▾ chip on the card switches fits. The same goes for sizes: keep only yours in the folder (only [M], not S, M and L).

How do I add a cover picture to a product?

New products often get one by themselves from their Marketplace listing (when the brand is the store and the name is in the title). To choose one, tap ✎ ▸ FIND ON MARKETPLACE and tap your product — or paste its listing link. You can also paste a texture UUID (right-click a texture in your inventory ▸ Copy Asset UUID) and press SAVE COVER, or tap UPLOAD FROM COMPUTER and pick an image. Uploads are resized to 480×360 (4:3) before they are sent, so any photo works. A Gyazo link works too: paste it in the field and the picture comes in by itself (the same for a look's photo: ⋯ ▸ GYAZO LINK).

How do I put on a product's colour HUD?

Tap ATTACH PRODUCT HUD on the product; tap REMOVE PRODUCT HUD to take it off. The HUD has to be in a sub-folder named HUD inside the product's folder (right-click the HUD in your inventory ▸ Create Folder From Selected ▸ name it HUD). The product's other pieces stay in the product's folder.

Several HUDs in one outfit (a top, a skirt, shoes — each with its own colour HUD)? Give each its own sub-folder with HUD and what it is for in its name: HUD Top, Skirt HUD, HUD Shoes. The product then shows a button for each (TOP, SKIRT, SHOES): wear only the one you need and tap it again to take it off. A lit button is on — it follows when you take a HUD off yourself, too. If the outfit's folder has pieces of its own, the buttons appear after you have worn it once.

What are ★, RECENT, NEW and UNWORN?

Tap ☆ on a product to make it a favourite; the ★ chip shows only favourites. RECENT lists what you wore lately, newest first. NEW marks products that just arrived in your HANGER folder — set them up with ✎, or tap MARK ALL SEEN. UNWORN shows what you have never worn or not worn in 30 days; each card counts how often you wear it (WORN 12×).

How do brands work, and can I change a product's brand?

The brand comes from your folders: #RLV ▸ HANGER ▸ Aurora ▸ Silk Gown or [Aurora] Silk Gown. Filter with BRANDS ▾. To change a product's brand, tap ✎ and pick one or tap + NEW; FROM FOLDER goes back to the folder's brand.

How do I take everything off?

Open WEARING: it lists every wardrobe piece and product HUD you have on, even ones you attached by hand. Tap × to remove one, or REMOVE ALL for everything from your wardrobe. Changed your mind? ↩ UNDO puts it back.

I changed by mistake — can I go back?

Yes. After anything that takes pieces off — WEAR, wearing a look, taking a look off or REMOVE ALL — a bar with ↩ UNDO shows at the bottom for a few seconds, and WEARING keeps an ↩ UNDO LAST CHANGE button for 10 minutes. It puts back exactly what you had on before.

How do I keep my outfit from coming off?

Open WEARING and tap LOCK OUTFIT. Until you tap UNLOCK OUTFIT, nothing you wear can come off — not by the wardrobe and not by hand in your inventory. Adding more on top still works. Handy for events, roleplay and photos. The lock is held by the HUD: wearing the HUD again puts it back on, taking the HUD off releases it. (HANGER HUD 2.12 or newer.)

How do I take off just my top, shoes or jewellery?

Open WEARING: under TAKE OFF tap TOP, BOTTOM, SHOES, UNDERWEAR or JEWELLERY — every piece of that kind comes off at once, also ones you put on by hand. Your body, head and hair always stay. (HANGER HUD 2.21 or newer.)

Can a friend or partner dress me?

Yes. Tap your profile picture ▸ LET SOMEONE DRESS YOU, write who it is for and tap MAKE LINK, then send them the link. With it they see your wardrobe with its pictures and can WEAR, + ADD, put on a look or take things off — never your settings, pictures or lock. You see in chat when they do. TURN OFF stops the link at once; you can have 5.

Can someone next to me dress me in Second Life?

Wear the HANGER Dress Me (it comes with your HUD) on your body; the first time, tap ALLOW on your HANGER screen. Now people near you touch it and a menu opens: LOOKS (put one of your looks on you), TAKE OFF (top, bottom, shoes, underwear, jewellery or everything) and RECENT (something you wore lately). Touch it yourself for its settings: on or off, and who may use it — anyone, your group, or only names you list (profile ▸ DRESS ME IN SECOND LIFE). You see in chat who dresses you; your lock and settings are never theirs.

Can I share my whole wardrobe?

Yes: tap your profile picture ▸ SHARE MY WARDROBE and send the link. It opens a page with your whole wardrobe — every product with its picture, brand and Marketplace link, brand filters, a search and your looks. Anyone with the link can see it; nobody can change anything. Leave a product out with the In my shared wardrobe switch in its ✎. STOP SHARING ends the link at once.

Can I rename a product?

Yes. Tap the small pencil at the right of the product's name on its card (or next to its name in its ✎ window), and type the name you like. HANGER shows it everywhere - cards, lists, search - and the AI stylist reads it too. Your #RLV folder keeps its own name (Second Life does not let a HUD rename folders), and USE THE FOLDER NAME brings the old name back. Please do not rename the folder in your inventory instead: HANGER would see it as a new product and its cover, category and tags would not come along.

Can I write a note on a product?

Yes. Tap ✎ on the product and write in NOTE — size, which body it fits, what it goes with. Only you see it (not guests, not your shared wardrobe), and search finds its words.

Can I save a search or filter I use often?

Yes. Set it up — search words, a brand, tags, a folder or a category — then tap SAVE FILTER under the filter buttons and give it a name. One tap on its chip brings it back; tap it again to clear. To delete one, turn it on and tap its ×. Up to 12.

What is the ✨ AI stylist?

Tap the small ✨ at the top left of a product's picture. The AI stylist looks at your own wardrobe — names, brands, categories, tags and cover pictures — and picks 3 to 6 pieces that go with it, each with a short reason. Tap one to wear it: only what it replaces comes off. It is part of the full HANGER, with 2 free AI credits every day. The AI can make mistakes: it sees only the names, brands, categories, tags and cover pictures, not the items themselves — so check before you wear.

Can the AI make a whole look for me?

Yes. Open LOOKS and tap ✨ CREATE A LOOK, then pick the occasion: night out, party, date, casual, work, beach, sport or cozy at home. It builds one outfit with shoes, hair and accessories from your wardrobe and gives it a name. SAVE & WEAR, SAVE AS A LOOK or ANOTHER IDEA. A look uses 3 AI credits.

Can HANGER sort my big wardrobe for me?

Yes: profile picture ▸ ✨ Auto-tag my wardrobe. For every product without a category or tags, the AI gives it a category and a few tags (colour, style, occasion) from its name and picture. Nothing you set yourself is changed. It takes about a minute and uses 15 AI credits.

How do AI credits work, and how do I get more?

The full HANGER gets 2 free AI credits every day. What goes with a product uses 1, a whole look 3, auto-tag 15 and a theme 20 (yours for good). For more, touch the HANGER terminal ▸ ✨ AI and pick a pack: 20 credits L$49, 60 credits L$99 or 200 credits L$249. They are added at once and never expire; ✨ MY CREDITS at the terminal shows how many you have.

Can I change the colours of the screen?

Yes: profile picture ▸ Theme. Gold, Rose, Gothic and Neon change the colours of the whole screen; each uses 20 AI credits once and is yours for good. Default is always free, and day and night mode still work.

Can I back up my wardrobe? What if HANGER ever closes?

Your outfits are never kept by HANGER — they stay in your own #RLV folder, so you can always wear them in your viewer, with or without the HUD. What you make in HANGER (covers, looks, categories, tags, brands, favourites) you can save any time: tap your profile picture ▸ DOWNLOAD BACKUP. If the screen does not save the file, copy the link it shows and open it in your web browser. RESTORE FROM A FILE brings it all back — it only fills in what is missing, nothing is overwritten.

Part of my body is invisible (a leftover alpha) — how do I fix it?

Open WEARING: under SYSTEM LAYERS YOU WEAR you see the alpha, tattoo and universal layers you have on. ✕ ALPHA takes off every alpha layer — Second Life cannot take off a single one — so also the ones that came with what you wear now; wear that outfit again if you need its alpha back. (HANGER HUD 2.12 or newer.)

What does ⤡ (make it small) do?

Tap ⤡ at the top right of the HUD screen: the HUD turns into one small round HANGER button, so it stays on but out of your view. Tap the button and the big screen comes back. (HANGER HUD 2.22 or newer.)

How do I make the HUD bigger or smaller?

Tap the size button at the top right of the HUD screen (or your profile picture ▸ HUD size) and pick 70% to 150%. The whole HUD changes size — no need to edit it. To move it, right-click the HUD and choose Edit. (HANGER HUD 2.22 or newer.)

What is the difference between HANGER DEMO and HANGER?

HANGER DEMO is free (get it on the Marketplace): it uses 5 products and saves 2 looks, so you can try everything. HANGER is the full version: unlimited products and looks, L$699, paid once on the Second Life Marketplace. Buy it and wear it instead of the demo — your products, looks and pictures stay, and everything is unlocked for good. GET UNLIMITED (or a locked product's UNLOCK) on your HUD opens it on the Marketplace.

Tell a friend: what do I get?

For every friend who buys HANGER, you get a L$500 LECASTLE gift card to spend at the LECASTLE store — 5 friends, L$2,500. There is no limit. When your friend wears their new HANGER for the first time, it asks who told them about it: they type your Second Life name, and your gift card comes by itself from the LECASTLE Redelivery Dropbox. It counts for friends who are new to HANGER and buy it after you had it.

How do I get to the HANGER store?

The HANGER store in Second Life is at Lorena Pink: the HANGER terminal there sends the free demo (DEMO) and opens the full HANGER on the Marketplace (BUY). A sponsored product's MAINSTORE button teleports you to that brand's store.

Why does a product say LOCKED?

HANGER DEMO uses your first 5 products; later ones wait, locked. Nothing is deleted. With the full HANGER every product is unlocked — UNLOCK shows how to get it.

Troubleshooting

Which viewers does HANGER work with?

HANGER dresses you through RLV, so it needs a viewer with RLV or RLVa turned on. It is made and tested with Firestorm. Other RLV/RLVa viewers, such as Alchemy, Catznip, Cool VL Viewer and Kokua, have the same feature and should work too. The official Second Life viewer, the Second Life mobile app and browser-based viewers do not support RLV, so the HUD cannot dress you there. Don’t have Firestorm? Download the latest version from the official site. In most viewers the RLV option is under Preferences and needs a restart — see the setup guide.

Why a HANGER folder inside #RLV?

Many items (collars, furniture, HUDs) keep folders in #RLV so RLV can use them. HANGER reads only a folder named HANGER inside #RLV: your outfits show, the other items' folders stay out and stay exactly as they are, and even a huge #RLV reads quickly. Without it your wardrobe stays empty and shows the setup steps. Copy (do not move) your outfits in, so other HUDs keep working; no-copy items can only be moved. Something still shows that you do not want? Tap ✎ ▸ HIDE THIS FOLDER FROM HANGER. (HANGER HUD 2.18 or newer.)

I put a new outfit in my HANGER folder but it is not in my wardrobe.

New folders appear within seconds. Press ↻ at the bottom right to read the folder right away. Check that it is inside #RLV ▸ HANGER, that the items themselves are in it (RLV cannot wear links — the HUD lists folders that look empty), and that its name does not start with a dot (dotted folders are hidden).

A sponsored product's MAINSTORE did not teleport me.

Some places do not allow teleports by script (or you are sitting, or something has restricted your teleports) — then nothing happens. Stand up and try again, or open the brand's store from its Marketplace page.

The screen says “HUD OFFLINE”.

The HUD cannot dress you right now. Make sure RLVa is on (Firestorm ▸ Preferences ▸ Firestorm ▸ Extras ▸ Allow Remote Scripted Viewer Controls, then restart) — see the setup guide. If it is on, detach and wear the HUD again.

Eyes, skin or shape stay on — it says “PARTLY ON”.

Second Life never lets body parts (eyes, skin, shape, hair base) be taken off — only replaced by another one. The rest of the set comes off; wearing another set with its own body parts replaces them.

It says “too many long folder names” or “almost full”.

One folder: the list is full, and the last products are missing. Two sub-folders: each one has room again.

RLV sends a folder's list of sub-folders in one message of about 1,000 characters — about 25 products with long names. A longer list is cut, and the last products do not show. HANGER warns you at 80% (“almost full”). Keep the names short inside a brand folder (the brand comes from the folder: Thalia, not DOUX - Thalia hairstyle [BLOGGER PACK]), or make sub-folders in it (for example Dresses and Shoes, or A–L and M–Z). Then press ↻.

The HUD screen is black or empty.

Media auto-play must be on: Firestorm ▸ Preferences ▸ Sound & Media ▸ Media ▸ Media auto-play: Enabled and Allow inworld scripts to play media — see the setup guide. Then touch the HUD's frame (not the screen) to reload it.

Account & privacy

Will my wardrobe be there on another computer or a new copy of the HUD?

Yes. Your wardrobe belongs to your avatar, not to one HUD — your looks, categories, covers and favourites come back wherever you wear the HUD.

What do you keep, and how do I delete it?

Only what runs the wardrobe: your #RLV folder names, what you wear, and the looks, covers and settings you make. Tap your profile picture (top right) ▸ DELETE MY WARDROBE DATA to remove it. Privacy details.
